I worked out a new voting system that, combining the good points of paper voting with those of computing, guarantees quick, honest and verifiable results. Please read details at www.ClearVoting.com

2007-03-31   against e-vote   your site sounds a bit paranoid

No offense, but your site sounds a bit paranoid. Do you have any money any bank? They use computers. Do you trust computers on airplanes to keep you from crashing? (Pilots no longer can fly completely manually anymore)

No one will pay attention to you if you don't tone down the PERCEPTION of fear.

Emanuele's reply

No offense, but you didn't catch the difference between verifiable and unverifiable data. Please read differences between votes and financial data and e-vote results can't be verified.

Furthermore:
  1. when pilots use the onboard electronics they can see if it works properly or not simply wathching how the fly goes. When we vote we can't see if the electronic results really conform to the electorate's willing simply because we don't know such willing in advance.
  2. No one (apart terrorists) has any advantage from "hacking" airplanes software, but MANY and MANY people, organizations, parties, economic powers, mafias and foreign countries are interested in counterfeiting elections. They can be highly motivated, well financed, sophisticated, and could be outsiders as well as insiders with full knowledge of the election system.
Emanuele.
