I worked out a new voting system that, combining the good points of paper voting with those of computing, guarantees quick, honest and verifiable results. Please read details at www.ClearVoting.com

2004-10-01   against e-vote   A voting activist from Carolina (USA)

Your website is fantastic.

I am a voting activist, for the state of North Carolina. Our state has paperless e-voting in 40 of our 100 counties.

Our election officials recently went to a conference that was partly funded by the voting machine vendors. The officials were given parties, prizes and a dinner cruise on the Potomac (Washington DC).

One of our counties, Guilford county has decided to take things one step further. They are planning to purchase electronic poll books, and ultimately will get rid of the paper poll book. This will remove an important audit.

The reason I am writing is that I have been lobbying for VVPAT. I really believe that paper ballots are the only honest and verifiable voting system. However, we seemed to be forced to give up our national security because the blind are supposed to have the electronic voting.

Our federal law requires this by Jan 2006.

Everything is just as you described.

VVPAT is a compromise at best.

We should be throwing these machines into big bonfires or some ecologically sound method of disposal.

Thank you for your website.
J.
